Getting Excited for the New Charmed Reboot on CW?

Posted by Body Rags Blog on

If you watched the original Charmed Series back in the late 90's early 00's, you're most likely excited about the new Charmed reboot coming to the CW this October.

Not sure what to expect? Here are some reasons to get you excited for what they have in store:

1. The Cast is Awesome

The new Charmed series has some of the basic elements from the original story of the Halliwell siblings, but this time around the series follows the Vera sisters and their older half sister Macy Vaughn.

Madeleine Mantock takes on the role of the sensible eldest sister Macy. The character is a genius geneticist that tries her best to keep her willful sisters in check. Mantock is one of the stars in CW's The Tomorrow People and AMC's Into the Badlands.

Melonie Diaz plays the role of the middle child Mel. The character is an outspoken lesbian activist that matches the actress's real-life activism, supporting the Time's Up movement. Diaz had a great performance in VH1's The Breaks last year.

Sarah Jeffrey stars as the youngest sister, Madison. Her character is in her first year of college trying to get into a sorority. The actress will also took on the role of Daphne in the Scooby-Doo spinoff film Daphne & Velma released earlier this year.

2. The Creative Force is Great

For some people, the creative force behind reboots is the deciding factor whether the show will do good or not. With the new Charmed TV series, fans can rest easy since Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin are writing the show. They are creative team behind hits like ABC Family's Greek and CW's Jane the Virgin.

Jane the Virgin's creator/show runner and executive producers,, Jennie Snyder Urman and Ben Silverman will have the same roles in the new Charmed CW series as well.

3. New Special Effects

The original Charmed series first aired in 1998 and ended in 2006. If you watched the original, you will know that the special effects look dated and less than believable by today's standards. While that doesn't diminish the original series' cult status today, seeing the series revived with the newer visual effects is something to get excited about.

One of the visual effects supervisors for the reboot is Bradley Powell. He's well-known for his work on CSI: NY back in 2004 as well as Elementary (2012) and Incorporated (2016). He's accompanied by other big visual effects names in the industry.

The directors of the new series teased that the episodes will have Hollywood-level special effects, so if what they say is true and they make good with their promises, everyone will be in on a spell-binding trip.

4. A New Audience

We all know there are a lot of remakes and reboots in the film industry. Some of them get stuck in limbo like the Popeye movie but some make it back with a new modern look, bring tried and true to new audiences.

The original Charmed series was released two decades ago. However, the new series breathes new life into the story for a generation of TV viewers who may have never even watched the original.

The reboot adjusts itself to fit a more modern narrative, re-imagining Charmed into today's society in hopes of making it connect with the young viewers of today.

Who knows, maybe those Charmed "newbies" watching the new series might be inspired to watch the original. If they do, they will be in for a treat considering how popular and highly-rated the original Charmed is.

As for the people who watched the original, either streaming now, or back in the day, we hear they're pretty excited to see how premise holds up with its modernized twists. We know we are!

5. CW is on a Re-Make Roll

As a matter of fact, more than half of the definitive remakes of 2017 belong to the CW. This year brings more great TV remakes including the much-anticipated Charmed remake.

Their top five shows have ratings that range from 95% to 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Shows like iZombie, Black Lightning, The Flash and Jane the Virgin are among the most popular shows on TV todat!

With the same people at the helm of the new Charmed season, everyone has high expectations.
